The new edition had been delayed at Amazon until Feb.2010

Also, a lot of information has come from Video interviews with Bil Herd and Dave Haynie. Dave has a lot of videos on You-Tube. Search them out.. I wish I could post them here, but I don't have permission.

Lastly, more sites on the net have information. There are even a few dedicated sites to the C16. Do a Goggle search, because Bing is just a flash in the pan.:)

Last Update September 20, 2009

The C264 was the Prototype for the Plus/4
The information on the actual unit is vague a best, but it seems other than the label and the inclusion of the 3+1 software from Tri-Micro, there is not much difference between the 2 units.
According to Bil Herd, the C264 was supposed to have a unit cost of $79. Commodore even included a RS232 port. It is unknown just how many "264" labeled units exist.

The original schematics called for the same power supply as the C64, Somewhere in final production, this was changed to a square plug and the square plug was made all plastic, in other words, it would not conduct electricity. Also, at this time the original fire proof case was changed to a highly flammable plastic. Bil Herd caught these changes and corrected what he could at the time.

Best Line ever:

Bil Herd was asked the difference between the 264 and the Plus /4. His answer;" Millions of dollars in lost sales and revenue".
